WHAT IS UPF PROTECTION

What is UPF? Ultraviolet Protection Factor is a rating system used for apparel. The rating indicates how effective the apparel is at shielding the sun’s ultraviolet rays. UPF is similar to SPF, the rating used for sunscreen products. UV protective clothing is the single most effective form of sun protection, even more than sunscreen, because it does not wash away and doesn’t need to be reapplied. Additionally, unlike some harmful sunscreen chemicals, sun protective clothing does not get absorbed into the skin. Exposing the skin to too much UV rays has been linked to skin cancer, aging and sunburns.
